First Holy Communion
Communion
As Catholics, we celebrate the Eucharist, or Communion, at each and every Mass through the breaking of the bread. We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins. As we receive Christ's Body and Blood, we also are nourished spiritually and brought closer to God.
Initiation to the Eucharist
Children are generally welcomed to Communion during 2nd Grade. Children must be enrolled in the religious education program for at least one year before the year in which they progress on to Holy Communion.
If a child is older than 2nd Grade and has not received Communion, the parents should contact the parish office at 618/993-3194 to make appropriate arrangements.

I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”
–John 6:51
