ST JOSEPH/ST PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCHES PASTORAL COUNCIL MINUTES
9/26/2017 Meeting
1. In Attendance: Msgr. Thomas Flach, Deacon Ken Hilliard, Angela Lees, Cindy Pulsford , Cindy Yong, Andrea McNeill, Patti Zanotti, Tim Kirschbaum, and Bruce Steh - Vice President; Debra Bertrand – President; Elizabeth Huhman, Matthew Leitzen, Monica Jones, Absent-Betty Blades.
2. Approval of Meeting Minutes: 8/22/2017 Minutes were approved with one correction. Motion was made to accept the minutes by Tim Kirschbaum, and seconded by Monica Jones. Motion carried.
3. Old Business: a. Parish Family Picnic held on September 10, 2017 was a success.
4. New Business:
a. Ad Hoc Committee Recommendations Re: Direction/Mission/Vision of the Parish Partnership- The committee presented materials on Glenmary Missioner/Mission Program. The materials are attached. After discussion a motion was made by Tim Kirschbaum and seconded by Matthew Leitzen that the parish partnership develop a profile to submit to Glenmary organization to be considered for the adopt a parish program. Motion carried.
b. Pastoral Council Membership Nominations - Cindy Yong and Debra Bertrand met and set up the time line for taking nominations, voting on new members, and having the new members attend the meeting in December 2017.
c. Young Adult Initiative - Elizabeth Huhman presented material on the Young Adult Initiative. The material is attached. Discussion was held that it would be a benefit to the parishes to have the program. There is no cost to the parishes. Motion was made by Andrea McNeill, and seconded by Tim Kirschbaum, that Elizabeth Huhman be allowed to complete and submit the application on behalf of the parishes. Motion carried.
5. Committee Reports: a. Stewardship - Elizabeth Huhman advised that the committee needs to regroup and meet to develop new ideas for stewardship. b. Welcome - discussion was held about using the bulletin to welcome new families to the parish, and that new families attending St. Paul had advised that they felt very welcome. c. Outreach - no report. d. Faith Formation - The getting to know you party on Sunday Sept. 24, 2017 was a success. PSR begins September 27, 2017 and 6th grade through high school begin classes on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Fall Festival day at Camp Ondessonk on October 15, 2017 will be an event that the youth and their families may attend together.
6. Pastor’s Comments: Msgr. Thomas Flach asked that the Constitution be amended to allow trustees to be voting members of the Pastoral Council. Discussion was held about the process of amendment and that the subject will be placed on the agenda under new business for next month’s meeting.
